The School of Champions

The educational philosophy at West Roxbury High School is to deliver practical and enlightened education to students in an academic environment that is conducive to learning. With our philosophical approach, we endeavor to prepare students to become productive members of society.

Located in the southwestern section of Boston, Massachusetts, West Roxbury High School is one of twenty public high schools in the Boston Public School System. It is a non examination high school serving inner city students in grades nine through twelve and offers both college preparatory and vocational courses. West Roxbury High School is accredited by the New England Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. We were last evaluated in October of 1988 and received a Certificate of Accreditation for ten years.

Built in 1976 on eleven acres of land, West Roxbury High School is a city school with a suburban setting. The building's site has comprehensive athletic fields and recreation land. The general situation along the Charles River Basin and Metropolitan District Commission recreation land, gives the school unique access to wetland and woodland study areas. A student-developed nature trail around a holding pond is used by both the Physical Education and Environmental Programs. Our location, requiring most students to commute an hour or more, offers a setting visually enriching and physically stimulating to the urban youngsters attending the school.

Our Web site -- built by students in our Media and Communications Technology Program in conjunction with the Boston Cyber District Association -- is an information resource for all Members of our Community: Students, Parents, Teachers and Visitors. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with our school and find the information you need by following the link below that best describes you.
