What makes our school special?

The Winthrop School was named an exemplary school by
the Conference of the National African-American Parent
Involvement Day in 2002. Efforts to engage parents include:
Curriculum Nights on topics such as literacy, math, MCAS;
Family Field trips; and classroom and school-wide
newsletters. We even have ways to engage parents
from home.

Students develop strong literacy skills and develop
mathematical skills using the "Investigations" curriculum.
The Winthrop receives an ongoing grant from the
Foundation for Partnerships which provides funds for
teachers and parents to work together for the achievement of
our students.
