Winter
Celebration
There
are many performances and celebrations at the
Josiah
Quincy
School
and one celebration is the Winter Celebration.
The Winter Celebration started 23 years ago in 1984.
For this year, it was on December 20, 2006. First, there was a pubic speaking
presentation by Aiesha (Christmas), Elise (Hanukah), Imani (Kwanzaa), David
(Chinese New Year), Priyokti (Ramadan) and Audrey (Reviewing and Ending). After
each speech, the chorus sang one song about that celebration. Student
dancers also performed Chinese dances such as the Doll Face Dance and the Fisherman
Dance, and two other dances, the
Lindy Hop and Yeah! I like it! Then there were some great
and talented soloists performing singing, piano, and poetry followed by the strings.
Kindergarteners sang “Rudolph
the Red Nosed Reindeer” and first and second graders sang, “Santa
Claus is coming to Town”. Our
Quincy School Winter Celebration was a great success and I
hope more and more
people will come and enjoy our show.
There
have been many changes with the show over the years. “Well,
I think that we have made a lot of changes and put in new things like having more instrumental, singing and dancing in our show now,”
said Mr. Corcoran, the music teacher.
"How
do you think the Winter Celebration turned out?"
I asked a fifth grade student. Elise
replied, “Winter is the most interesting time of year and I really liked the
show”
