· A book you’ll get into· A book you don’t want to put down
How do you find a "just right" book? · Length of the book or chapters· Amount of text per page· Pictures (in book and on cover)· Genre (Fantasy, Fiction, etc.)· Dialogue and how it’s written· Previous experiences with the author· Subject matter· Read the back cover· Can you retell the story?Five-Finger Test: · You can do the five-finger test by opening up a book to any page and reading it out loud.· Put up one finger for each word you don’t know.· If you have five fingers up then this book is too hard for you and you should choose another one. |
